THIS I KNOW

On the very day I call to you for help, my enemies will retreat. This I know: God is on my side. (Psalm 56:9 NLT)

There seems to be a certain amount of confusion concerning whose side God is on. Outside of the church people who do not know God want to know why God does bad things. Do not be confused. God does not do bad things. Bad things happen because we live in a world full of both good and bad things. The devil comes to steal kill and destroy and God offers life.

It is one thing for the world outside of the church to be confused about this, but it is quite another for Christians to be confused concerning whose side God is on. We should have no doubt and continually declare that God is on our side. After all, God has declared clearly in His word that He is on the side of those in His family. He has declared His promise of blessing and He cannot lie. The only thing that would seem inconsistent is His great concern for those who do not seek or love Him. He gave His Son, our Savior Jesus Christ to ransom us, so that we could enjoy His blessings. He offers the same thing to anyone and everyone who will call on His name. Our desire should be that many will call, and we should do what ever we can to show them the way.

No matter what the circumstance may be, we should never let the slightest doubt have any place in our thinking. Our declaration must be that “God is on my side.” “I don’t care what it looks like, feels like, acts like, or anything else. God is on my side”

When we do this, it puts the enemy on the defense and opens the door for God to perform His word. When God performs His word it not only builds our faith, it reveals to the world around us that God is faithful. His word says that He is faithful even when we are not, however, He cannot perform His word to confirm our unbelief. Remember, unbelief is what keeps us out of the Promised Land, or the land of promises.

When God says to fear not, that indicates that we may well run into fearful things! However, He expects us to trust Him and declare that He is on our side. We should wake up in the morning excited because God is our side. If we do, we will be prepared for anything that may come up because we already know God is on our side. We cannot wake up wondering if God is for or against us today. Honestly, to hear some Christians talk, you would think that God has designated on and off days for us.

If God were not for us, we would not last one second. The enemy hates us so much that he would like nothing better than to kill us at the first opportunity. If he wants that much to destroy us, it only stands to reason that God wants much more to preserve and bless us. Of course this is so that others will see His greatness and be drawn to Him as well. Make this your declaration; “God is on my side.” Let God use you to lead many sons to glory.
