TIME TO ACT
He looked down on the people of Israel and knew it was time to act. (Exodus 2:25 NLT)
We are all caught off guard sometimes, but we know it is time to act. Other times, we may act without thinking. We also know that actions speak loudly whether good or bad. If we do not act, someone else will! The thief comes to steal, kill, and destroy; what will we do to stop him. This is not just a Christian thing, but it is in fact a big thing for Christians to think about.
Either that makes sense or is confusing. Perhaps we can get some sense out of it. When I was reading Exodus, this verse just grabbed me. I noted, time to act, and went on. That thought became a recurring thought rolling through my mind. In many things in life, we can be found guilty of simply hoping things will go away. We avoid action as much as possible. In other things we may be more than a little active. As Christians, we need to realize that just as in all things in life, it is better to be in action rather than just be on the defensive. Act on the Word of God; don’t just react to what comes at you. If we are active, we will have whatever tries to come at us back peddling before it hits us.
So here is what began to flow through my mind. It is time to act. It is time for us to cover the earth with the goodness God, and like the locusts destroyed everything in the land of Egypt, the goodness of God will destroy the fruit of the devil. Scripture speaks of overcoming them with the word of our testimony. In another place we are instructed to give thanks to the Lord and call upon His name. Then we are to make His deeds known among the people. I recently spoke with some folks who shared how God had just done one thing after another for them that could only be God. I rejoiced with them.
It is time for us to call upon God the way Israel did until God gets to act. I say until He gets to act, because that is exactly the way it is. He has things He wants to do! He is waiting for us to catch a clue.
Remember where sin does much to abound grace does much more. We have a heavenly Father who is ready, willing, and able to overwhelm the darkness. If we can believe, all things are possible with God. It is time to act.
It is time for believers to come out of their shells and believe God expecting Him to be God. Then we will see Him perform and have something to share. When I consider my life, I see so many things big and small that God has done and is doing. I see things that He did before I knew Him; I need to work on what He will do if I call. Not just for my sake but for the sake of the world that needs to hear about His greatness. We are agents of the revelation of the goodness of God. Ask, seek, knock, and tell.
