TOO OBVIOUS
"What shall we do with these men? Everyone in Jerusalem knows about the miracle they did as a sign from God. It's too obvious. We can't say it didn't happen." (Acts 3:16 ERV.)
I don’t know about you, but I really like the idea of God getting too obvious! As I have continued to seek the Lord about the tower dream and acknowledging that the presence of a structure like it in the sanctuary was really obvious, I was lead to the thirds chapter of acts and the discussion of the man healed by the power of God in the name of Jesus.
As I read the comment made by the Jewish leaders that this miracle we too obvious a sign from God to deny, the Holy Spirit immediately reminded me of the tower and how it was too obvious to deny!
For those who know and love God, we can see God in every part of His creation. We may not always go crazy when we see the sun but we know He made it. We may not always rejoice at every breath we take, but we would certainly give Him the glory for all that He did in creating us to make life possible. However we all know that many can deny such things because they say God does not exist.
Even in the family of believers there are those things that are obvious to some and not so obvious to others. Some are certain that we should pray about everything and that God still responds with the miraculous and others not so much! It is more like; of course God could heal, but don’t expect too much. Don’t go overboard on the faith stuff!
One of the largest gaps comes when we try to decide if bad things are God judging us and or the world or if they are just bad things that happen because we live in a fallen world prone to sin. To some it is obvious that God kills and destroys takes things from folks even though those things are more characteristic of Jesus’ description of the thief. There is no doubt that God would be right in everything He decides to do, but is it God doing these things?
We pray for someone and God answers and we know it was God, but others may see a space for deniability. I am looking forward to God getting too obvious and I really believe that is what He is getting us ready for. When God decides to smite, then I want it to be so obvious that whether people like it or not, including me, we will know it is God. I am ready for the healings and deliverance and protection and provision to be so obvious that we all just have to say it is obviously God.
I am ready to know God in more obvious ways and to trust Him without limits expecting Him to be all that He says that He is, because He is more than I know. One thing is very obvious to me. There is more to God than any of us knows. No one knows it all so let’s all be prepared for those things that are obviously God! Invite God to show up and show off everywhere and at all times.
