TOO WONDERFUL FOR WORDS

I will be your God throughout your lifetime...I made you and I will care for you. (Is. 46:4)

Do you ever come to a place when you pray that you seriously consider whom you are talking too? I am sure you have a do often. Well today was another of those days for me. For one thing, I was praying a scripture chorus and saying to the Lord, “I extol You.” Well, it sounded fine and there was surely nothing wrong with it, but the fact is I don’t really use the word extol all that much and so I began to talk to the Lord about how real my prayer is if I using someone else’s words. Which led me to the place that truly God is too wonderful for words.

God is so much bigger than we could ever imagine and yet He wants to take care of us. It is His plan, His desire. He is that large and yet He made a way to dwell to in our little bitty hearts. The only way that could happen was to put a new heart in us. It is kind of like in the present computer age, a handheld model can do more than one that used to fill a large room could do. Let’s face it, how do we imagine the size of someone who has His throne in heaven and can use the earth as a footstool? How do we imagine someone who measured the oceans with His fingers? Trying to do so will more than likely bring you to the reality that you just cannot figure that big.

Well just because we cannot figure something out, does not mean we should not enjoy all that it can do. I cannot begin to figure how a computer does all it does but in a little while, I will send this to nearly two hundred addresses with a click of a button, and many of you will send it to someone else with a click of your button. It does not matter if we can grasp the whole concept of how it works, we will do it.

As I came to the conclusion that God was too wonderful for words, and to big to imagine, it hit me that there are other things about God that too large to limit. Like just how large is His capacity to love or forgive or rescue or save? Every now and then, you hear people say that God could not love them, or that God could not forgive them. The reality is that God is big enough to love and forgive and save anyone and everyone.

Christians are often guilty of giving up on things they have prayed for because they forget how big God is. He says that everything He plans will come to pass. If He says He has good plans for us, then we need not give up on the arrival of the good plan.

Too often, people are busy talking about how the devil does this and that and they are more focused on what that puny little adversary can do than in what our awesome God can do to crush him. What we need to do, is to stand our little problem up beside even our limited picture of how big God is and we will realize that even though we cannot imagine how big God really is, He still makes our problem look small. He can fix it!
