TOTALLY
Commit everything you do to the Lord. Trust Him, and He will help you. (Psalm 37:5)
God is looking for people who are committed to a relationship with Him. As we have discussed, He is jealous for our success. The success of our relationship requires total commitment. God is totally committed; are we?
Psalm 37 has always been a favorite of mine. It contains many of my earliest memorized passages. I often turned to it for encouragement and comfort, as well as direction.
If we practice it, we will be strengthened and successful. Don’t worry about the evil and the wicked or the things that trouble you. That is a great plan. But for any plan to work, we need to be committed to it. We need to be determined to make it work. We need to see it through.
We are all guilty of calling to the Lord for help and making promises we have not kept. We were of course sincere when we said it, but God understands that we did it out of desperation! Those times were mostly before we were fully committed to this marriage. Yes, we are the bride of Christ. Yes, God it totally committed. Yes, we must be too!
Delight yourself in the Lord. Abide in Him always. Call on Him. Worship Him. Check in with Him. Aren’t these the things we do in a relationship that we really care about? Don’t we declare our love and loyalty? Aren’t we willing to put every effort into keeping a special relationship going? Even when it gets hard, we want to press on; until we don’t of course.
When things do not go our way, the temptation is to give up. Sadly, this is true when it comes to our walk with God as well. If we are not committed and trusting when we pray, and then we do not get our way; the temptation is to just go our own way.
We are experiencing times that I personally never would have imagined! I am so thankful that I have had 40 years to grow in faith and walking with God. It is faith in God that is the answer in all things.
Wandering faith in whatever works at the time, is not faith in God. Commit yourself to the Lord. This is God’s solution. He created everything. He sustains everything. So, it is not unreasonable for Him to require focus on our part.
Look to the Lord. He is where your help comes from. When I hear that or read that, it causes me to pause and say amen.
God is more than enough for every part of life. Don’t wait for an emergency to call. Call Him just because you love Him. Maybe you need to commit yourself to the Lord. Maybe you realize that you have not trusted the Lord with all your heart. Maybe just maybe today is the day that changes your life forever. Maybe you realize that this is what you have been looking for. Commit yourself to the Lord. Trust in Him. Delight yourself in the Lord. Praise the Lord.
