TOTALLY READY
But whenever He comes, He will reward the servants who are ready. (Luke 12:38)
Who are we, that the Lord even considers us? Even more amazing is the fact that He desires us. He is above all things, and He thinks of us. If only He would think for us and make us be what we really want to be, sort of! He cares for us! He provides for us. He protects us. He talks to us and guides us. He never gives up on us. He is totally wonderful. He is totally perfect.
Yes, this week as I considered that God is above all things, totally came to my mind, because He does everything totally. He leaves nothing unfinished, except maybe the work He does in our lives! But even then, He has it finished, we just need to walk into it. We just need to see ourselves the way He sees us.
I am totally ready to arrive at all the fullness of God. So, are you ready to praise the Lord forever and forever? Are you ready to give thanks at all times and have His praise continually flowing from your mouth? Are you ready for the reward of the Lord? He has rewards for those who are ready.
I know that the context of the verse is answering the question about when all the things of the end times will come. I also know that God has rewards, now, in this lifetime.
When I traveled to Russia years ago when my children were small, they were always ready for rewards when I came home. They could not wait for my suitcase to open. Sometimes the rewards were big, and sometimes they were small. The size did not matter, the reward did. I think we need to become more reward conscious when it comes to God. We always have things we can thank and praise Him for.
In Luke 11, Jesus talks to the folks about following Him. You see, the thing about being a Christian refers to people who are followers of Christ. Jesus. He goes so far as to tell us to carry our cross. We all have different crosses to bear. I suspect that we all have paths littered with crosses that we left laying beside the road. We might have been too busy to notice, or we just did not care to pick some of them up. After all, nobody is perfect!
Maybe we just were not totally ready at that moment. Maybe we were like Paul, and we were ignorant. Or maybe we were just stubborn. Maybe we did not care. It is good to know that when we are far from perfect, God is still totally perfect, and He is totally ready to lead us in paths of righteousness.
We decide when we are ready. In order to decide that we are, we must realize that we aren’t! Oh, if we would consider God the way that He considers us. Zacchaeus crawled out on a tree branch just to see Jesus walk by. Jesus called him down and His presence changed Zacchaeus so much that Jesus declared him saved. “Salvation has come to this house.” I totally want the fullness of salvation. I totally want the readiness that Jesus is looking for, every day of my life.
