TOUCH THE WATER

Everything that touches the water of this river will live.(Ezekiel 47:9 NLT)

So often you can hear people say that they will do something when God tells them. Or in other words, when God touches them in that way. Somehow, people have decided that God has everything planned and that it is going to go the way He has planned no matter what they do. It is for this reason that many are sick.(Because they think God wanted them sick.) Many are weak.(Because they think God made them to be weak.) We could make a long list of these scenarios, but some would get too mad to finish reading this.

We need to settle once and for all, that God has good plans for us and the devil is the one who steals, kills, and destroys. Don’t let him convince you that God got you into a mess and then wants you to suffer for it. If you get into a mess, you got there yourself, by following a wrong path. Hey, we all have been deceived at one time or another, so get over it and get on with God. We are all guilty of not having all of our armor on and not being able to withstand the wiles of the devil. But this does not change the fact that God has good plans for us. It does not change the fact that He gives us strength, wisdom, and everything else we need to live in victory.

Before you say I do not know what I am talking about, look at Jesus and not your circumstances. See if you have been accepting what He is offering. He prepares a table before you(Psalm 23) but you need to pick up what you need from the table. Look at His word like a giant table spread out before you. Everything there is good and you need it all. But there are times when you need one thing more than another. So pick it up. Just so no one misinterprets this, I am not saying we should pick and choose what we like and don’t like in the word of God. It is all good and is there for us to transform our lives. Let it dwell in you richly and guide you in all things.

Now look what this verse in Ezekiel says. It says everything that touches this water will live. It is not a case of letting the water touch you, but you touching it. It is our place to reach out, and to embrace the river of God. Many people can be in the presence of God, and somehow leave without it effecting them. They can in fact, leave in even a worse state than they came in. Why is this? Because the presence of God provides for change, but if someone does not want to embrace what God offers, they harden themselves against it.

I used to wonder how some people could be so unaffected by the river of God, until I saw this verse. I realized that once again it is because God gives us a choice. He presents us with life and we decide whether to touch it and live or just keep on our own path. God promises that whoever touches the water will live. Who ever will desire God, will enjoy all that God can supply.

I know that some will say, “Tell that to people who are starving.” It is exactly what we should tell them. I would tell them that there is a way and Jesus is that way. The truth is good news to the poor. It is sure better than telling them that God wants them to starve. It is time that we all embraced the things of God. Don’t just let them flow by like they are for someone else. Touch the water and live, and then pass that life on! Let God make you a blessing.
