TRUE GLUE
Christ is the visible image of the invisible God. He existed before God made anything at all and is supreme over all creation. Christ is the one through whom God created everything in heaven and earth. He made the things we can see and the things we can't see--kings, kingdoms, rulers, and authorities. Everything has been created through Him and for Him. He existed before everything else began, and He holds all creation together. (Colossians 1:15-17)
Often times we hear people questioning how much longer this world can go on. We hear this from believers in Jesus Christ as well as those who do not acknowledge him all. We have people who think that mankind will destroy the world through pollution or with bombs or some other means. While we may be doing our best to do just that, the real truth is that Christ is the glue that is holding things together and nothing can change that.
There is no limit to what He can do. When God said, “If my people who are called by name will pray…and I will heal their land,” there was no limit to His ability to heal the land. He did not say we could go beyond His power to restore. The limit comes in our willingness to believe, that He is able to do all that He says. God cannot lie, and if He says that Christ is holding things together, then we can stand on that truth. When someone wonders what this world is coming to, we have an answer. It is coming to Christ. He is holding it together. He has a perfect plan of good for us. Just think what might happen in our world if everyone began to declare that Christ is holding things together and that we can count on Him for good things.
If we believe even a little bit in Him and we begin to speak of our trust and faith and hope in Him, that little bit will grow. Our confidence will grow and those who we sow those little seeds around may begin to do the same thing. Do you realize how important it is that we know these things to be true? We cannot just go through the motions out of habit. We must be so convinced that we would die in our stand for the truth.
This morning in prayer God asked me what I needed. I tried to think of lots of things. I even mentioned a couple things, but not with much zeal. God urged me to be specific, but my mind just went quiet, which I love, but it is rare for me especially in prayer time. My mind usually wants to wander to a million places. The only thing I could say that really needed was, “you Lord.” I don’t say that to sound holy or anything like that. It was just that in that moment it became clearer than ever before that He really is all I want, and all I’ve ever or will ever need. My next request was that He would cause me to walk in that truth. I know He has enabled me, and I do not want to fall short of walking in all He promises. I know that this is true and my hearts desire is to walk in it and to see others do the same. God has so much for us and it is all in Christ. He is all we need. He is the true glue that causes the blessing of God to come and stick to us. Fear not, He is holding everything together.
