TWO BELIEVED

For nothing is impossible with God. (Luke 1:37 NLT)

Mary and Joseph believe God. What a difference believing God makes. As I thought of the birthday that we are about to celebrate, I thought of the difference it made in the lives of Mary and Joseph. Then the words to a song from the past came to my mind; “What a difference you’ve made in my life…” I have to tell you that just keeps amazing me. Jesus makes a difference. How much of a difference depends on us. It really does. We make choices that make a difference.
Mary chose to believe the angel. It would seem however, that she did not fill Joseph in on the message right away. She pondered it in her heart. She agreed to whatever God wanted but this was big; really big. Did Mary try to explain to Joseph and he would not believe her, or did she just leave it to God to smooth things out? We really don’t know that part, but we do know that God did smooth it out and the two believed God and waited for the birth.
There was no way they could have imagined how God would choose to confirm this wonderful birth, but He surely did. In all that time, it would seem that they never really told a soul what they knew. They just waited. Have you ever had to wait?
Waiting for the birth was hard I am sure, but after the birth was no easy time either. Believing is easy, but to keep believing takes increased determination. It requires us to keep choosing Jesus and choosing life.
For Mary and Joseph, they obviously knew they were part of a supernatural birth, but that did not make everything perfect. They were on the run. They were in obscurity. They had to rely on what they believed from the start. A miracle can stir you, but only faith can keep you.
We all have the same things to battle in one way or another, but it usually boils down to what Peter said when Jesus asked if they were going to leave Him. In your heart you must hold on to the fact there is nowhere else to go. He is your all in all. If He is not, then set your heart to seek the Lord.
I know that when I met Jesus I had no idea what had happened, nor did I know what a difference He made and would continue to make in my life. The start was a supernatural pregnancy like Mary had. The angel said it, but how would she know when it took place. The Holy Spirit overshadowed me and well I have been being amazed ever since. Today, I am reminded just how good it is to ponder these things in my heart. I want to experience more birth of Christ my life today and every day. Ponder that for your life.
