UNDEFEATED
Don't give the devil a way to defeat you. (Ephesians 4:27 ERV)
Could it be possible to live undefeated? Jesus did! “But we are not Jesus,” you might say. To that the word of God would remind you that Christ in you is your hope of glory. Yes remember that you have been made more than a conqueror through Christ who always leads you in triumph. You are empowered by the Holy Spirit. God said you would win if you choose to win. He spoke in the beginning telling us to take dominion multiply the Kingdom of God.
There is plenty of truth in God’s Word to substantiate the fact that we can live undefeated. We will not be without battles or tribulation, but we will win if we refuse to lose. Make a declaration. “I will not lose. I will keep getting up!” Hold on to that reality. It will defeat any giant that comes against you.
As much as we may hate to admit it, the truth is that our defeats come at our own hands. It is not anyone else’s fault. It is our own. It most certainly is not God’s fault, but often times you will find people trying to convince themselves and others that God planned their defeat for a purpose. Why would God want to defeat you, when He created you to win? Think about that.
Paul had a lot of opportunities to be defeated, but he refused to take them. He just kept getting up. How often do you think the devil attacked him telling him he had no business thinking he could serve the Lord Jesus Christ. After all, he persecuted Christians. Paul shot right back by saying that he was an Apostle because God wanted him to be one. He also declared that he was living proof that God’s patience is without limit just as His mercy is without limit.
Remember that. God is patient. So, we need to quit giving the devil ways to defeat us. We are told over and over what we should think about. We are reminded that people are lost only because they refuse to believe and love the truth. So when the enemy comes with lies and vain imaginations, what should we do? Cast them down! Get rid of them. Blanket them with truth. Paul was not just writing instructions; he was sharing how the Holy Spirit helped him to overcome. He experienced it and then he passed it on.
Jesus spent all of His time teaching the people in public what God told Him in private. He assured us that it would work for us just the same way it worked for Him. So when the enemy tells you it won’t work, if you agree with him you give him a way to defeat you. It is just that simple.
When you are tempted to sin; stop. Do not give the devil a way to defeat you. If you do sin; repent. Get up and do not let the devil keep you down. It is as simple as that. If you(we) do these things you(we) will live undefeated. “Now get out there and win!”
