UNLIMITED CREDIT

If they were thinking about the country they had left, they could have gone back. (Heb. 11:15)

Recently, my daughter was cleaning out a wallet and transferring things to a new one when she discovered a gift card that had to be used this year. Suddenly she was scrambling to get it used! She was about to spend under pressure. We all had a chuckle and a praise God time that she had found it and that it had not expired.

Then, a few days later, I had this thought from God about increased credit. I have credit cards that they have increased my limit to a place that I would never want to use them and yet I always have them in mind for a time of need. The problem with that limit of course is the need to pay it back.

God’s credit works a little differently. We start with unlimited credit and it increases anyway. His limit can never really be reached, but it increases for us individually as we learn to put it to use. Big things cannot get to big and little things cannot get to small. Often times it is in the small things that He teaches us to stretch to the larger things.

Just this week, I lost part of tool in the snow. I looked everywhere and just kept asking God to help me. I knew it was not a big thing, but still I wanted it back. That evening I went home after searching and re-searching. I had looked through my pockets hoping it had fallen in one but it was not there. My pockets had gotten caught on a sharp piece of steel so they needed patching and my bride in her wonderful fashion jumped on the task.

The next morning, I was getting ready to head back out and was going through my pockets. When I did, I discovered the missing part. I was praising God and telling my bride how it had appeared and she came running from the chair to tell me the rest of the story. She said it was not there when she emptied my pockets to patch them either. She also said that she just threw everything into one pocket when she was done. I said, “You mean you did not sort the screws when you put them in my pockets.” (We were working with red and white screws and I was going to sort the screws when I found the missing part. All of my screws were sorted with white in the left pocket and red in the right and the missing part right there with the white screws. My wife assured me that all she did was put on the patch and throw everything back in one pocket. I have only one explanation for that. I call it a revelation of increased credit. All I wanted was the tool. He just made sure I knew who found it.

I have not found everything I ever lost, and I have not yet seen everything I ever prayed for. There have been many times that things did not go the way I planned, but that does not change God. If I wanted to dwell where I was I could go back there, but I don’t want to. I want to live in the revelation God offers to me and to all who will believe. The verse in Hebrews comes from what we all know is referred to as the faith chapter. I believe God is telling us to access the credit that was placed on our accounts long ago. So we are entering a new year why not go for it. Let’s do it!
