UP
...and give thanks to the Father. He has made you able to have what He has promised to give all His holy people, who live in the light. (Colossians 1:12 ERV)
God so loved the world, that He, through Christ, put a name tag in heaven for everyone. Everyone is able to have what He has promised. The intention is, was, and will always be that everyone looks and goes up to Him. In fact, it would seem that everyone will in fact, stand before Him. So ultimately, all roads lead up. Unfortunately, there is a drop off if we do not put on Christ.
Have you ever thought that there is no limit to the up possibilities? Science continues to prove they cannot find the end of the sky and the heavens. Down however is another story. We can only dig so deep, before we begin to dig back up!
Scripture tells us to be careful about how firm we think we stand because we could fall too. If we find ourselves looking at someone else’s sins and proud because we would never do such a thing; we better look out. I am fully aware that there was no limit to the depth to which I could have sunk. What things in your life did you do that you once thought you would never do?
As I considered this, it occurred to me that the deeper we go, we are getting closer to breaking out and up. For many, it is at their lowest that they look to God for hope. I thought I was actually okay until I broke through and saw the light. Then I realized how far down I was. So, never see anyone or anything as hopeless. God has provided for every opportunity to break out and up.
Once we do break through, we need to be aware that for as long as we are in our bodies, there is an earthy pull on our lives. Just as gravity only ceases when we leave the earth’s atmosphere, so it is that we will only in heaven that we will be totally free from the pull of the world. Only Heaven is world-free!
Still, the closer we get to God the greater our power to resist. Have you ever found that when you truly enter in to worship the pull of the world dissipates? It may take some effort to shake off the gravity, but it is worth it. We may have to focus in order to stop our wandering thoughts, but as we do we truly can experience a Spiritual weightlessness.
It would be nice to live there, but the truth is, we can’t live there in our earthly bodies. While we are here, we are told to put on our garments of praise and our robes of righteousness. We put on the full armor of God so we can stand against the pull of the devil.
No matter what; don’t give up. Go up! Enter His presence in worship. Soak in His presence. Strengthen those arms that hang down. Raise them up and receive all that God has promised you.
