In as much as many...that you may know the certainty of those things... (Luke 1:1-4 NKJ)

Luke could never have imagined that one day people would be able to click on a button from anywhere in the world and read what he wrote. He wrote what the Lord inspired Him to write and yet I am certain that he did it hoping that he did not miss the voice of God. Even so, he was confident enough to point out that what he was about to write would be good for the readers and the hearers. At this point in time of the early church, it was so important for the people to be continually built up and informed of all that Jesus had taught. As a result, they were continually upgrading and updating information. Of course the same is just as true today. If you really think about it, you can see that the world of computers is built on the principles of God.

I woke in the night recently thinking about how high tech God is. He is always increasing our capacity for the ever increasing information that He is pouring out. As I thought of this, I considered the computer that I use. The storage capacity is small compared to some today, and yet I don’t even use a fraction of it. It is twenty times larger and fifty times faster than our fist computer. I now have an iPod with fifteen times the storage of that original computer. I have hundreds of hours of messages on it and have barely dented the storage space.

When I think of all of this, I think of the information that God has made available to us, and the capacity that He has given us to process and store it and I wonder how much space I am failing to use.

God is also ready to provide upgrades to the programs we have. In other words, the things that we know now will lead to more if we will check for updates. If we will seek Him, we will find that there is more revelation available. Have you ever had the screen come up on your computer that says updates available and you clicked the “remind me later” button? How often does the Lord offer us updates and we skip them?

We certainly do not want to forget the virus updates! These are the things that protect our computers. These I would compare to weapons of our warfare in this fight of faith. It is always best to install the virus updates. I believe that sometimes we Christians don’t bother to keep ourselves properly protected. We need to remember that simply ignoring the things of God will not keep them from impacting our lives. The enemy knows this and if we don’t bother to update he is more than happy to infect us in any way that he can.

Finally, we should never hesitate to increase our RAM. In a computer this is what provides smooth high speed operation. Well I am convinced that God knows computers. One great thing about computing with God is that when you upgrade, all the information transfers automatically. No need to worry about losing anything at all, unless of course it is no longer necessary. Don’t let temporary files clog up your faith.
