VALUATION REVELATION

And the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So don't be afraid; you are more valuable to God than a whole flock of sparrows. (Luke 12:7 NLT)

What value do we place on our relationship with God? What value do we place on ourselves? How we value God and our relationship to Him is directly affected by how valuable we see ourselves to Him.
Seeing ourselves as valuable to God is not something that will make us proud and arrogant. No, seeing ourselves as valuable to God will make us more and more humble and grateful. So, do you see yourself as valuable; and if so, how valuable?
Most of us probably do not put much value on a sparrow or a flock of sparrows for that matter. I spent years trying to keep them out of my garage. That is hard to do when your wife is feeding every bird she can attract to our place! So isn’t it interesting that Jesus chose sparrows as his object of comparison. He cares about sparrows. He cares more about us than a whole flock of sparrows.
The point is that God’s way of valuing things is different than ours. He was pointing out that we are valuable to Him. Say that. “I am valuable to God.” Now don’t add all the reasons that you think you are or are not or should or shouldn’t be, just let the thought that you are valuable to God sink in. You are valuable to God because you are valuable to God. He does not need to explain Himself to you are to anyone else. He simply values you.
Man has come up with many ways to determine the value of different things but no one has really been able to figure out exactly how God determines value. How can He place any value on people that we do not see as valuable? Actually, He mixes the whole system up with things like the last will be first and the least will be the greatest and the weak will be strong and the poor should call themselves rich; in the natural it makes very little sense. This is why we have Holy Spirit to lead us into all truth.
We make a mistake when we try to evaluate whether we have value or not. We need to understand that God does not have a junk drawer. You know that place we keep all the things that we won’t throw away just in case we need them some day; God does not see anyone as junk.
If we do not understand our value to God, it will be very difficult to see God as valuable. So let go of your doubts. Let go of your failures. Give in to the longing of your heart. We all really do want to feel valuable. The world does its best to keep us frustrated. This causes some to give up and others to be so driven that they drive everyone away. But just accepting that we are valuable to God puts a whole new perspective on things. You are valued by God. Let that soak in.
