VICTORY IN JESUS
They found no legal reason to execute Him, but they asked Pilate to have him killed anyway. (Acts 13:28)
Victory in Jesus. My savior forever. He loved me before I knew Him. Truly He deserves all my love. Victory is ours in Christ Jesus. No matter what things look like or feel like. We have the victory in Jesus. Today, we celebrate the beginning of the end of the start of the beginning of that which will never end.
When Jesus rode into the city, He knew what He was riding into. I cannot quite imagine the emotions He was experiencing. Oh, how they cheered for Him, but he knew the cheers would change to chants of, “crucify Him.” It is possible that we have all done this a time or two.
Just think about it. Have you ever gone to church and prayed and sang and said amen, and then left and crucified the very word of God by your thoughts, actions, and words? Have you been guilty of getting caught up in what the crowd is chanting and going along with things you never imagined you would? And after all that, have you been sorry about the results?
As I think about that, a lot of present-day things come to mind, but I will leave those to you for now. In my heart I know there had to be some there who were at least screaming silently, “no, let him go.” I would like to think that I would have been screaming out loud. I imagine running up on the stage yelling we can’t let this happen. I realize that is easy to do so many years later while I sit and type, but is it easy to go against the flow?
Still that other thought comes, concerning the change from cheers to chants. Hosanna blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord. Oh well, let’s just crucify Him. Oh, how I love Jesus, but He understands that I can’t follow everything He teaches. I know what He said about this or that, but times are different now. What will people think or say if I just stand for what is right?
God would say, well done! I have always said that we cannot expect non-Christians to act like Christians, but Christians should. Peter had to recover, but he did recover. He messed up big time, but he came back in victory. We can too. Come one back!
In one way, today, as special as it is, is a day like any other day. It is a day for victory. It is a day to lift our palms and cheer for Jesus. We have Holy Spirit to help us before we follow wrong thoughts and actions into chants of crucify Him.
As I read the words of Isaiah 6:3, “they were calling out to each other—Holy Holy is the Lord of Heavens Armies. The whole earth is filled with His glory.” I imagine a huge awakening and people everywhere smiling, and shouting, and praising; saying Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord!
The earth is filled with His glory. Look for it, you can see Him everywhere. Arise and shine for the Lord is come and His glory has risen upon you. Respond to the “crucify Him” attitudes with, “no crown Him.” After all, He is the King of Kings! He won. He reigns. Stay with Him. If you need to recover, then do it. Get up and stand for what is right, just, true, and worthy of praise!
