VISIBLE FAITH

...Paul, observing him intently and seeing that he had faith to be healed(Acts:14:9 NKJ)

What was it about this man that revealed his faith? How could Paul tell that he had the faith to be healed? Was he hanging on every word Paul spoke, and giving his amen to every word? Was he looking at his crippled legs, and then back at Paul and then back at his legs? Perhaps he had his hands clasped tightly and his eyes closed looking to the sky. All we know for sure, is that Paul could see that this man was ready. And when Paul told him to get up, he confirmed that he was ready by getting up and walking.

No matter what the situation in life, our faith should be visible. What makes for visible faith? It is not some starry-eyed look, though at times we most certainly may be looking just that way. It is not some certain prayer posture, though we surely all have our favorite. The one that we think works best for us. And that is fine, for the Word tells us that each one must be convinced in their own heart.

Perhaps that is what best produces visible faith. When we are convinced in our own heart. Of course that is it!! It helps if someone else is convinced, it truly does. And faith does come by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God, so it is good when someone else who is convinced builds our faith through testimony and teaching. But it is when we become convinced in our own heart that our faith becomes visible.

When we are convinced that God is our shelter in the storm, our faith will show, as we stand with confidence and act in the wisdom of God. Visible faith abides in the love that casts out all fear.

When we become convinced in our own heart that God is our provider, nothing can keep us from tithing. Before we are convinced we may fear how we can afford such a thing. Once we are convinced, we rejoice at every opportunity, and our faith in God’s provision becomes visible.

I have heard testimonies of preachers and teachers etc. Who have said they could see a light around people who were filled with faith. I have never seen any light, but I have seen people who I just knew, buy God’s revelation I am sure, were ready to receive anything God did. It is almost like a flash of light, or a spark as two faiths join. You can see when a light comes on in someone’s life and they have become convinced in their own hearts.

It seems at times, that as Christians we get caught in a trap of trying to look a certain way. We try to have a certain smile, or a certain thing we say. But in truth, unless it comes from our heart, there is only one thing that is visible. And that is that we don’t get it, but we are trying. Trying is not all bad, but what would be better is if we determine to press in until we do get it, rather than backing away as some do. Then we shine without having to turn on a switch at just the right time. Then it is a supernatural response and reveals faith in one and only True God.

Lately I have been seeing God use gold to move people into visible faith. He is providing the shine and it is turning on people’s faith lights. Who would have thought God would use something like that to convince people in their hearts. I never would have imagined it, but I am sure glad He did!
