WAIT TILL YOU SEE
And we have received God's Spirit (not the world's spirit), so we can know the wonderful things God has freely given us. (1 Corinthians 2:12 NLT)
Waiting and waiting and wondering and wondering; this is the place we find ourselves in from time to time. This is of course frustrating if we are waiting on results rather than waiting on the Lord. Scripture tells us over and over to wait upon the Lord. Things may take time to materialize, but the Lord is always present. We all know this, sort of, but we all forget from time to time.
This is why we have received the Holy Spirit of God. This is why we should desire to receive more and more of the Holy Spirit. Not that He comes in parts, but our revelation comes in parts as we seek for understanding. We spoke about the main thing recently and we saw that the more we love God the more we depend on Him and consequently the more we seek Him. The more we seek Him, the more we see by the Holy Spirit what He has freely given us.
Has time ever gotten away from you? You know, when you are so focused on something and all of sudden you are late for something else. How about if you are checking your email and then there is a notification from social media and one things leads to another and then you look at the clock and way too much time has gone by! Most of us have done it. Where did the time go?
We have also had times where time just will not pass and has almost come to a stop. Like when you text someone and you need the answer right now and it just is not happening, or we are praying for something and we are certain God has put us on hold.
Well, God has the solution. He has given us the Holy Spirit so that we can know the wonderful things He has given us. Then while we wait we can look to Him and as we are looking to Him, suddenly those things that we thought would never be are already in reach because He has promised us. We can stand on His promises. We really can speak of things that are not as though they are.
God really wants us to launch out in our faith. We can trust Him. My son was here recently and I was helping him get comfortable on a motor cycle. He did very well, and after riding for a while, he told me, “I get it!” What he meant was he now understood what I love about riding. Walking with God is just like that. We need to make the effort to get into His flow. We need to launch out. We need to pray for the sick. We need expect amazing things from our amazing God.
Waiting on things that we know are already ours in Christ is a lot easier that waiting and doubting that those very things will ever happen. We know God hears us. If we know He hears us we know we are fine. The Holy Spirit assures us that God hears us. Things can come and go, but the Lord is forever. What could be more important than the things He has freely given us?
