WAITING FOR YOU
The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. (2Pet. 3:9)
It blesses me when I think that God waited for me. He waited for me to be born. He waited for me to grow up and choose Him. I am so glad that He continues to wait for me to manifest His goodness and shine His light in this world. Did you know that He is waiting for you too?
Did you know the patience comes naturally to God? Of course you know that, because you know that God is love and that love is patient and kind and well we can read all about love in God’s word. Love and joy and peace also come naturally to God. That is just the way He is.
He is not slack about His promises; He is just waiting for us. He is just waiting for the next one and the next one to come to know Him. He is just waiting for each of us to draw closer and to experience one more nugget of the treasure he has stored up for us.
Are you beginning to see the picture that God has been painting for me recently? How many times do we get caught in the trap of wondering what in the world God is doing and why He is not doing this or that and why He is doing things we don’t understand? How many times do we blame God for things He never did simply because we do not understand what is going on?
I am so glad that He just keeps waiting for us. I am so glad that He is slow to anger and that He is willing to just let us keep being stupid until we get tired of being stupid! I know, stupid seems like a harsh word, but I am perfectly willing to admit that I get stupid sometimes. God never made us stupid. In fact, because He knows what is really in us, He is able to just wait for us. After all, if we have been born again, we have the mind of Christ moving around and available for us to activate.
If we will acknowledge that God is waiting for us, it will change a lot of things in our lives. It will change how we think and how we act. It will change what we say. It will change our whole attitude about most everything in life. It will change how we respond to people. It will change how we respond to sickness and other attacks of the enemy. It will change how we handle finances, friends, and enemies.
When we see that God is waiting on us, it will help us to be a little more patient as we wait on Him! We will realize that He has just been waiting for us to wait on Him! Have you ever waited for someone, only to find out they were waiting for you, only in a different spot? God is waiting for you. What is it that He has for you today?
