WALKING AND TALKING

For He has rescued us from the kingdom of darkness and transferred us into the Kingdom of His dear Son, who purchased our freedom and forgave our sins. (Colossians 1:13-14 NLT)

First, I just have to praise the Lord! Verse 14 just makes me want to shout. He forgave my sins! Thank you Jesus! Where can we go from that? How great is our God who rescued us and transferred us?

I wanted to talk about talking while we are walking and I think we will but God has put the transfer on my heart as well. I think they go together. I am sure they do!

When a person is transferred in their work, it requires a move. The move may be across the street, or a different shift, or across the nation or to another nation; whatever the case may be, there is a change involved. There are new things to deal with and new things to learn.

God has transferred us from darkness. Everywhere we go, we are the light of the world. That is what Jesus said. The things we knew are no longer the same. The light shines on them and we see them for what they are and we must transfer! We cannot stay in the same place. It is not comfortable in the same place. As with a job transfer, if we show up at the same place someone is going to ask what we are doing there because we were transferred and expected to be somewhere else.

When I was on the road traveling for a painting company, I was often required to be a lot of places. We did not have cell phones then, so I needed to check in from landlines and if I was not where I was expected someone wanted to know what I was doing where I was instead of where I was supposed to be.

Do you ever see yourself where you should not be or saying things that you should not be saying? Have you ever told yourself, “wait a minute, this is not me?”

I have to tell you that in our present times, I am tired of hearing that wrong is right and right is wrong. I refuse to agree with that! God‘s word is true and it is life to those who find it. I found life and I am not going to trade it for the nonsense that is being peddled. God has not changed. He has never been concerned about everyone being comfortable. He has been busy being our comforter. He wants us to walk in the light and to talk the light. He has made us light and light is appreciated in the dark. Of course not everyone desires the light, but God still wants everyone exposed to the light.

Let’s face it; we have not always loved the light. Sometimes we are uncomfortable when the light reveals darkness to us, but we need only to remind ourselves that it’s all part of our transfer! So let’s move deeper in the Kingdom of our dear savior. Speak the truth and set people free!
