WATCH OUT

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.(1 Peter 5:8NKJ)

No matter what height we may have reached in our faith and devotion to God, we must never forget to watch out for the devil True, he has no power unless we give it to him, but he just waits to find a little hole he can slip through in our shield of faith. And once he is in he destroys all he can as fast as he can.

In verse 6, Peter reminds us to humble ourselves under the mighty hand of God. We need to be careful that we don’t get so puffed up with all we know, or think that we know, and forget who gives us strength, and from Whom all our blessings flow.

God has been revealing many great things to the body of Christ in these last days, but for some the cost has been devastating. We have learned that God does want His people to prosper, but in the process, some have forgotten that He also wants us to be holy and set apart unto him. For some prosperity has led to greed and big time falls. He has taught us about healing, and some have abused the gift and turned it into a business. We have learned of deliverance, and people see demons behind every bush. We have learned of Spiritual warfare, and some have taken up arms.

We have to remember that God’s word is line upon line. We cannot forget the first line after we learn the second. God intended that it all keep building us into perfection. It would be wise for us all to reflect on where we are, and make sure we are ahead of where we once were and not behind.

Personally, there was a time when I did not even want a TV in my house, now I catch myself wasting time in front of it. For some people, church was once a priority, but now, other things easily replace it. Some pastors even groan at church time. For others Christian music was once the only thing, but now, well there are other things that are not so bad. The question is, what is best!!

This is simply a reminder to us all to evaluate our priorities. In Verse 2, the Lord tells me to shepherd the flock of God properly. Believe me, I know that shepherds are favorite targets of the devil. He tries everything He can to destroy shepherds so he can scatter sheep. So I must remember to search myself daily, and more importantly I must ask God to search me daily. I also must challenge the flock to do the same.

Don’t allow your powers of rationalization to neutralize the power of the Holy Spirit. If He speaks to us, and we manage to brush it off, He will back up and wait. That is why we must quickly yield to Him, and cast our cares(which include temptations)upon God. God does not give us revelation so that we can resist Him, it is the devil that we are resist steadfast till the end. Don’t let up now, we are almost to the finish line!!
