WE FOUND HIM
All who heard the shepherds' story were astonished. (Luke 2:18 NLT)
They found Jesus under a star in a cave. He still dwells in caves for all who search for Him. You were in a cave or you are in a cave and He is there for you. He is the star where ever you are. Search for Him and you will find Him.
How long did Mary and Joseph sit alone in the cave with the animals and the baby Jesus before the shepherds showed up? What was going through their minds? It is not really all that clear as to the time involved, but Jesus was who the angel said He was the whole time.
Jesus is still who the angel said He was. He is the Savior of the world. The Holy Spirit now draws all people everywhere to Him. There are stars everywhere showing people everywhere the way to the Savior.
Just as the Shepherds went away rejoicing, so does everyone who calls upon the name of Jesus. All that is necessary is to call. Of course if you have called, you know that it is wise to keep Jesus on speed dial. There are a lot of caves in this world.
There are caves of hopelessness, despair, pain, sorrow, and the list is endless; but He is always there for us.
What was it that sent the Shepherds away rejoicing? He was just a baby. There was nothing about Him that was significant in the natural. What there was was the confirmation of the Holy Spirit and the fact that they believed!
Christmas is time of many emotions, but Jesus is the one who can stabilize all emotions if we will call on Him. Just as He made the shepherds night complete, He has come to make all of our lives complete.
Are you in a cave today? Are you feeling alone? Has something or someone stolen your joy? Do you feel deserted, rejected, neglected, or fearful? Jesus is right there in that cave with you. He will confirm the promise of God in your heart. You need only to believe.
I know that sometimes is sounds too easy. Sometimes it even sounds foolish. But look at the Christmas story and make it your story. It all sounded impossible, but it was true. And just as surely as that baby that the shepherds found was the savior of the world, so He is yet today.
Your cave is about to light up with the presence of God. You are about to go rejoicing. You are about to be set free from whatever is troubling you. Jesus! Hear our prayer. Smile upon us as you did in the manger. Fill our hearts with the Joy of Christmas and faith in your birth for our sakes.
