WE WILL SEE HIM

Dear friends, we are already God’s children, but he has not yet shown us what we will be like when Christ appears. But we do know that we will be like him, for we will see him as he really is. (1John 3:2)

Holy Spirit. Turn up my sensitivity! Just because God has not yet shown us what we will be like, that does not mean we should quit looking. It does not mean we should quit acting like Him. We are told to be imitators of Christ.

It is too easy to take verses like this and just put off going deeper in the Lord. What we do not know should keep us from the possibilities that Christ represented. What we do not understand should not be used as an excuse to not bother what we have been told to do.

Jesus said that we should go into all the world and reveal the good news. Our lives are a great advertisement for the goodness of God. Well, they can be, if we take our assignment seriously. We are not responsible for what we do not understand.

If we do not know what we will be like when Christ appears, that is not a big deal. Convincing someone about something that we no one really knows; now that is confusing. I have been reading in Daniel about Northern and Southern kingdoms and thinking as I read, “wow I do not really understand this no matter how many times I read it.” I do, however, understand that we win.

Yes, we win every time we choose to follow Jesus. We win when we stop hating and start loving. We win when we pray rather than complain. We win when we trust instead of fearing. This is a day that the Lord has made. I will rejoice and be glad in it.

When we look for Him, we will find Him. I do not really need to know it all; I need to know Him more and more and more.

I need to feel what He feels. I need to know what He knows and to know He knows about where I am. Remember when God asked Adam where he was. Adam had no idea where he was. Oh, he knew his location, but not his position. I want God to keep aware of my position. If I am drifting, I want God to say, “Roger, where are you?” And, I want to have ears to hear Him when He says it.

In truth, I think Christ appears frequently to guide us. We may not know it, but we need to be looking. We need to be praying and seeking and then watching for His answer.

Remember when the prophet was praying, and his servant was worrying because he could only see what he felt was the most obvious. Then when God opened his eyes to see that there were more for them than those that were against them. We should remember that, when we are ready to throw in the towel and give up.

When Christ appears for the wrap up of all things, that will be amazing. However, we need to be confident that He will appear in our lives. We need to keep holding on to the promises and expecting His favor and expecting Him to act now in this lifetime. Watch for Him!
