WHAT ABOUT HEAVEN

"Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand." (Matthew 3:2 NKJV)

What do you think about heaven? To be honest, I know as much about heaven as I do about hell. What I mean, is that I can only imagine them. I really think that many people think the same way about both places; they suspect that they exist but that is about as far as their actual thinking goes.

Living a life trying to get into heaven is just as frustrating as living trying to escape hell. In either case you are never sure where you are so you just keep on struggling. Fear leaves us powerless and doubt keeps us from really receiving anything from God. So what can we do?

Well, John said, “Repent for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand.” So repent! Scripture tells us that whoever calls on the name of the Lord will be saved so we better believe it. When Jesus came on the scene, He declared, “The Kingdom of God is in you.” So now, we have God with us. With one truth we leave hell behind and with the other we understand that the kingdom of heaven is available all the time. Meditate on that!

If you read Revelation chapter 21 you will see that in the vision John describes many of the things from the Old Testament as well as the things that Jesus said. He spoke of the tabernacle of God being with men and that God Himself would be with us. He that sat on the throne said, “Behold I make all things new.” Do these things sound familiar?

Now like I said, I can only imagine our final home, but it sounds to me like demonstration models are available at the mention of His name. What if we believed there could be no more sorrow or pain? What if when sorrow came we expected joy in the morning and received it as a little glimpse of heaven? What if when pain showed up we expected the Kingdom of God to overshadow it and we would just receive healing?

Isn’t that what Jesus came to show us? Didn’t He come to reveal the goodness of God? Isn’t it heavenly to experience His presence? Did Jesus come just to dangle a carrot that we could only partake of when our earthly lives are over? I do not believe that. I believe that He came so that we could have abundant life and in the end an even greater revelation. For now, we can rejoice that the King and His Kingdom are in us!
