WHAT DID MOSES SAY

If you had believed Moses, you would have believed me, because He wrote about Me. And since you don't believe what he wrote, how will you believe what I say.(John 5:46&47NLT)

I have read this scripture many times, but this last time, a Holy Spirit light bulb went off in my mind. I was actually reading before going to sleep, and you know how you start to nod off a bit. I read this, and it sort of woke me up, then I read it again and I thought wow I have got to remember this. Did I get up right away and start writing? I am sorry to say, no I didn’t! I went to sleep, but God was so kind as to remind me.

What was it that lit me up. It was remembering what Moses said. Not so much finding all the places that Moses gave us specific pictures of Jesus, but rather in the fact that all that Moses had to say was about What God gives us in Christ Jesus.

Moses wrote the first five books of the bible. What do they tell us about. They tell us about creation, and how God intended that our relationship be with Him. Now days, it is pretty hard to get some folks to believe that God could still have any good intentions for this miserable lot of people. Some get mad if you suggest that God wants to be a good father. Yet this was one of big things God pointed out to Moses and to the people he led. He even told them of the day that would come when the law would not longer be on stones but rather in our hearts.

Moses also wrote of the sacrifice he made. Though he did not consider it such. He gave up his royal robes just as Jesus did. And then God sent him to set his people free, just like He sent Jesus. God did not withhold one good thing from Israel. He put up with their stubbornness and always helped them when they cried out to Him. He sent them out of Egypt with all of their wealth. He led them through the desert in good health and their clothes never wore out. They always had food and water.

Yes they got themselves in some messes, but God defeated all their enemies, healed all their diseases, and even with all their rebellion He never deserted them. He gave them a land flowing with milk and honey and the strength to possess it. Moses wrote of all the mistakes they made, and the sins they committed. Why? So we could learn from them.

Moses wrote the commands of God. He wrote of the blessings and the curses of God. He wrote enough, so that if we would really believe what God did for them, we would be more inclined to believe what Jesus has promised us. And what He wants from us.

It is a sin not to trust Jesus. It hurts Him when we do not believe what He has said. He wants to receive glory for the things He does for us and through us. If we can just believe what He has done, we will be ready to believe what He is ready to do. Truly, what He has done for others, He will do for you.
