WHAT DO YOU KNOW?

That is why we live by believing and not seeing. (2Corinthians 5:7 NLT)

We are all familiar with Paul’s ultimate statement of faith that He knew nothing but Christ and Him crucified. Obviously Paul knew a lot more about that subject, but the foundation of His faith was based on that one fact. For if that were not true, then nothing would be true. Paul also said that if anyone thought they knew a lot, they really did not know much.

The fact is that the more we know, the more we realize that there is a whole lot more to know. Even though people may think they know a lot about some things, if they are wise they realize that there is always something they can learn. This is especially true when it comes to the good news of Jesus Christ.

No matter where you are in your walk with God, if you know Jesus at all, you are very wise and as you seek Him, you will know Him more. He will reveal things to you in ways that are specifically for you. You in turn will have opportunities to help others with the revelation that God has given you. So never feel like you are insignificant in the body of Christ. Each one of us has a very important part to play.

One who is wise will pay attention to anyone who loves Jesus. For out of the mouth of babes, God has ordained praise. One way to look at that scripture is to say that there is wisdom to be had even in babes that will produce praise if we will pay attention. The most mature Christian realizes this and is always open to the voice of the Spirit whatever the source may be.

Just today I was reading about sharing in the Lord’s inheritance. It hit me in a new way as I considered what it would be like to receive an inheritance and then let everyone just help themselves. Can you imagine that? Think about it. Imagine that out of the blue someone left you a fortune, and then everyone you know or don’t know comes and wants part of it. I understand that is what happens to most people who win a lottery.

And yet Jesus not only let us share His inheritance, He died so that we could get in on it. He is truly amazing!

The point I am trying to make is, if you feel like you don’t know a lot, you probably know more than you think and you are in a perfect position to know more. If on the other hand you think you know all there is to know or all that you need to know, you are probably blocking out some really great things from God.

Whatever the case may be God is ready, willing, and able to move you closer to Him. If you want to know Him more, all you need to do is ask and keep your eyes and ears open.
