WHAT GOD HEARS
Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results. (James 5:16 NLT)
It is amazing to think that God hears us. With all the noise going on and with all the people calling out, God manages to hear us. It is the right thing to do when we pray. This verse says that we need to pray in earnest. Other scriptures tell us to pray believing.
I am not certain how God manages to sort out what we pray, but He does. Have you ever watched one of those shows, where they manage to use some machine to clear out all the noise and focus on a particular conversation? Well God perfected that long before we ever thought of it. Still, it is amazing.
How do we know what is righteous or fervent or earnest? That is an excellent question, and fortunately, it is one that God sorts out. We are told to call.
One thing I believe he hears very well is when we nail our sins to the cross. He hears when we declare that sin has no more power over us. Once we do that, we open the door for Him to strengthen us. The idea that He is going to keep us from something that we don’t want to be kept from is silly. It is when we call, that He hears us.
He tells us to run to Him not hide from Him. Remember when Adam and Eve were hiding. God simply asked them where they were. There answer revealed where they went. They went to the wrong place. If we are hiding in the camp of the enemy, we need to recognize it and come out so we can be heard. They told God they were naked and afraid. He asked who told them they were naked.
So when we say that God does not hear us; who told us that? Who tells us that it is no use to pray? Who tells us that there is no God or that God is bad?
When we are thinking that way, it is a good time to talk to God. Go to the source of all things. He always hears when we draw near to Him. A broken and contrite heart He will not reject or despise.
What does God hear? He hears you! He listens for your voice. He knows you need Him and when you call, He will answer.
Of course he can hear everything and He does not just overlook the wrong things we say but He is able to hear beyond our faithless and evil words and respond to our cries for help. When we commit our ways to him and submit to Him and resist the devil, we can be sure God hears. All of that can easily be wrapped up in one sincere cry for help. Talk to God often, He hears you!
