WHAT IF

...that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection (Philippians 3:10 NKJ)

What if every one of us who celebrated the resurrection of Jesus decided to go ahead and walk in the power of that resurrection? What if we did actually fellowship in what His suffering was all about? Or what if we at least resolved to press until we got hold of what Jesus grabbed us to do!

I have been pretty diligently seeking God for almost 25 years, and still find myself walking in less than the power of His resurrection. If I did not have so much confidence in His faithfulness I would give up on ever getting there. But because I do believe He is able and determined to complete the good work that He has begun in me, I intend to keep pressing. In fact, I just wrote Him a note telling Him that I was trusting Him to get me to where He wanted me. Psalm 91 says, “I will say of the Lord you are my refuge, my fortress, my God in You I will trust.” Well that is what I declared, and I don’t want to be lying. Moses told God once that if He did not go with them he was not moving. Sounds like a good plan to me.

Have you ever noticed that at times is seems more reasonable to trust in a fickle God rather than in a faithful God. The fickle God is a maybe God. Maybe God will and maybe God won’t. It is entirely up Him. That does sound more reasonable in the natural sense. The only problem with that is that it makes God a bit of a liar. When He says He promises something and we say He may not keep that promise but it is okay anyway; it is not okay. It is not okay to change what He said or to imply that He did not mean what He said.

He said He does not lie. He said He does not change. So if nothing else, we should at least say what He said and leave it at that! My faith may run weak at times, but His strength never fails. We do not have to know how God is going to do something; we simply need to have confidence in Him to do it and say so!

So, what if everyone who believed in the resurrection started walking in the power? What if we refused to compromise His Word and His teachings whether it was popular or politically correct or not? What if when we did not know what to say, we just did not say anything until we heard from the Lord. What if we had compassion and prayed for every one. What if we believed that the same power that raised Christ from the dead resides in us for the sole purpose of carrying out the will of God? What if we loved with the same compassion He loved with?

Scripture tells us that Jesus followers turned the world upside down after His resurrection. Imagine how many more followers there are now and what we could do if we would walk in faith and believe in the power of the resurrection.
