WHAT IS THAT

And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. (Roman's 12:2 NKJV)

So, what is that? What is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God? Well Jesus said that He came so that we could be made whole and I guess that pretty much covers it. And what is that? There is no short answer, but Paul said that if we present ourselves to God and allow Him to transform us by the renewing of our minds we would not only know it, but we would prove it. A better way to say it might be that God would prove His will through us.

First and foremost, God wants us to believe in His Son. His perfect will is that no one perishes and the only way not to perish is to be born again in Christ. Jesus made the ultimate sacrifice in order for this to be possible. His blood represents that sacrifice to end all sacrifices. Because of that blood, our ultimate sacrifice is to praise God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Do we have it easy or what?

Ok, I know that some might see this all as an over simplification of things, but the truth is that God never intended to make it so complicated that no one could figure it out. Paul even said that he was concerned that we might miss the simplicity of faith in Christ Jesus.

God wants us well. God wants us whole. God wants us in condition to reflect His glory. He wants us to bless those who curse us and pray for those who despitefully use us. He wants us to cast out demons, set the captives free, lay hands on the sick and see them healed, and in a nut shell, be and act like Jesus did on the earth. Take a deep breath, I am not saying we are little gods, we are just supposed to act like our Father and brother in the power of the Holy Spirit.

We have no power in ourselves to do or be this. When we operated in our own power we were lost and hopeless and clueless that we were lost and hopeless! But now we have Christ in us and if Christ is in us then we have all that we need to accomplish that good, perfect, and acceptable will of God. But we have to submit ourselves to Him and His will over and over again. We have to submit our thoughts to His thoughts and agree with His thoughts and ways over and over again. This is not something we do once in a lifetime. It is something we do moment by moment for the rest of our lives. It is not hard to do this if this is what we desire. But if we desire our will and ways more than we desire God and His ways this becomes a very difficult thing.

However, if we know the truth that there is no life without Him, then that truth sets us free to really choose the life He promises. He wants us to be whole. He wants us to be complete and lacking nothing. He wants us to have all the love and compassion that He has. He wants us well and strong. He wants us to know all of this. He wants us to trust Him above all things.

If we seek Him, we will find Him. For my generation there has not been a time when this was more necessary than it is today. We have the opportunity to shine brightly in great darkness and prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. He is looking for places to release His glory. Are you that place?
