WHAT WILL IT TAKE
And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven... (Matthew 16:19 NKJ)
What does it take to convince a person to buy in on an idea? Usually there is one thing that either opens a door or if you prefer closes a sale. There are market analysts and poll takers and different surveys out there, continually testing to see what makes things go the way they do. They are looking for keys that unlock people for their votes, their money, or whatever else they can benefit from. If you have been anywhere but in a cave, you know exactly what I am talking about.
Have you ever received a key in the mail stuck to a letter telling you that this key guarantees you a chance at a new car or home or something else? All you need to do is bring it, or mail it and you would notified of the next step, which might be that you could see if your key fits a lock that gets you another key etc. Some folks go all the way in that contest and win. Others throw it away and sometimes the winner is in the trash.
Jesus told the disciples that He would give them the keys to the Kingdom. He was the living revelation of what the Kingdom was all about. Receiving revelation is the key to possessing the keys. I believe that He daily stands at the door knocking waiting for us to unlock the doors of our hearts and minds and receive the keys to the keys of the kingdom. You see we must be unlocked before we will desire to unlock all that God has for us. So, the question is, “What does it take unlock us so we desire the keys to the kingdom.” There was some key that unlocked each of our hearts to receive our salvation; the greatest gift of all. Do you know that there are many other keys made just for you?
The way I see it, there are like a gazillion keys out there. These keys are the keys that open people’s eyes and ears, and if we allow them to unlock the doors to our hearts, we will then hold in our hands a key to that part of the kingdom. Let’s be honest, we all have a box full of keys that we just never put to use. You know, those revelations that we wrote down and never looked at again, or things that burned in our hearts but we never pressed in on them; all these are keys that are lying in a box somewhere ready to unlock doors to keys to the Kingdom. What will happen when we put those keys to work for us?
It is true that we have so much information and so many books and teachings that you would think everyone would know all that there is to know; unfortunately, we do not. I see all of this information as the goodness of God, because He knows that there are multitude of reasons that people lock themselves in and miss the kingdom and He wants to supply every manner of key that there is to give everyone the opportunity to throw open the doors and run free. Perhaps this devotion will be a key for someone!
What will it take? What doors have we shut and locked? Do we want the key that will let the King of Kings usher us to the next level. Yes Lord. Yes Lord. Yes Lord. Yes!
