WHAT WOULD YOU DO?
So great fear came upon all the church and upon all who heard these things.(Acts 5:11)
Have you ever considered what you would do, if someone tipped over dead for lying to the Holy Spirit. Or if judgment began to be poured out in the house of God in order to purify the body. It certainly would be a scary time wouldn’t it. The fact is, that there will come a time when we will be judged for everything that we have not received forgiveness for. And we all do need forgiveness.
We are all guilty of loving less than God wants us to. We are all selfish from time to time. Well the plain truth is we are all being perfected. At least the opportunity is there for us to be perfected in Christ. Fortunately, God is not striking everyone dead who gives or does things under false pretenses. We are not just talking money here, but we are talking about every sort of a front we may be putting up.
We must remember though, that even though God is not striking people dead, He still sees and it still breaks His heart. Do we know Him well enough to know that He loves us, and that the last thing He wants to do is punish us. Do we know that His heart is set on blessing and that it breaks His heart because He can not bless what is not holy. Remember that holy is that which is set apart unto God, and potentially fatal to all that is not righteous.
So what would you do. Would you run out of the place where God did such a thing? If you did, would you go back with a different attitude, or would you just stay away? Would your heart break over your sin, or would you get mad at God or the pastor or teacher or brother or sister who said it.
In truth, this does happen in churches all over the world. The Holy Spirit reveals someone’s sin and if the person responds properly, that sin is put to death. If instead, they run from that convicting power of the Holy Spirit, their spirit begins to die. And if they do not deal with it, they will stay away from God and ultimately die.
So then, what will you do, when the Holy Spirit so lovingly says that it is time to stop lying to God about something in your life? When He says it is time to step deeper into your commitment and relationship with Him, will you say yes Lord and let die what must, in order for more of Him to come alive in you.
God is calling. Oh please say yes to His loving plea to come closer. Don’t miss what He has for us in these last days. Souls are depending your response.
