WHEN

For the Lord of hosts has purposed, and who will annul it? (Isaiah 14:27 NKJ)

When it comes to the promises of God, it is not a question of if He can do something, or if He will do something. When God makes a promise He keeps it. The only “if” involved in it is the, “If we can believe.”

In Psalm 14:7 David says, “When the Lord brings back the captivity of His people, let Jacob rejoice and Israel be glad.” He did not say if the Lord does it. He was sure of what the Lord was going to do.

We need to focus less on questioning when the Lord is going to do something and spend more time declaring what we are going to do when He does it because we know He is going to do what He said.

How we say what we say does make a difference. It is not if the Lord hears. It is when the Lord hears. When does the Lord hear? The Lord hears when we pray. It is not will the Lord answer? It is, when the Lord answers.

Sometimes things with God are instant. Sometimes the answers come even before we ask. And sometimes we are required to spend time standing and standing and standing. We may not like to put the fruit of patience to work, but we need to be willing to do it when it is necessary.

We need to be able to do, say, and act with the same confidence as we wait, as we will when we see the prayer fulfilled. In other words, if we pray for something that will give us great joy when we see the answer, then we need to express that joy while we wait.

When people desire to have a child, they imagine what it will be like to be parents. Then when they find out they are pregnant, they are so excited. They buy clothes, get rooms ready, and tell everyone about it. It does not matter too much what others say, they are caught up in what they will do when that baby is born. This is good for them and good for the baby. However, sometimes people have become discouraged with trying or they have suffered the pain of losing a child, and as a result they doubt and worry and this in itself will complicate the fulfillment of the dream.

The same is true when it comes to the promises of God. We must be confident. Many of the things the Lord has purposed looked impossible when He declared them and yet they all came to pass. When we become confident in the promises of God it is only a matter of time until we behold the glory of God. So whatever you are going to say when it is fulfilled, begin to say it now. Rejoice your way into the answer and before you know it, “when” will be here.
