WHEN I THINK

When I think of the wisdom and the scope of God's plan, I fall to my knees...(Eph. 3:14 NLT)

When things are not going the way you want, or when things are going just the way you want; what do you think about? Our thinking is the key to our success. Well what should we think about? God says to meditate on His Word. He tells us that it is life to them that find it and health to all flesh. If we can begin to grasp the truth that true life is in the word, and that only God can make us complete, then we might just begin to think on the things that will give us life and health.

Let’s face it; Jesus was not kidding when He told us that there would be tribulation in our lives. It is not just Christians that have troubles. Sometimes we act like we think this is the case. As Christians, we are supposed to be an example of how to handle troubles. We are not supposed to be the most miserable; we are supposed to be the most victorious. We are supposed to reveal to the world that God is able to do more than anyone could ever hope or imagine.

So how can we best go about this? We can learn from the example of others who have gone before us, or who are doing it now. In this passage of scripture, Paul is in prison and rejoicing. He is not looking at how bad things are. He is thinking about the wisdom of God and the great plans that God has for him. He knows that God is able to deliver him or even better to take him home.

Paul says that when he thinks about God’s great plan he just goes to his knees and prays. God tells us that we should always pray. He tells us not to worry about anything, just pray about it. Oh that sounds so foolish until we actually start doing it. And then when we do, God reminds us to believe in Him when we pray. In other words, don’t just say the words and then turn around and negate the prayer. Pray the prayer and declare the faithfulness of God to answer you.

When we think, we should be thinking about what God has promised. We should be focused on His great ability and not on our sorry circumstances. If we are in sorry circumstances it is probably because we are not thinking about the great wisdom or plan of God but rather we are thinking about and focusing on what is wrong.

I know when I think right, and I know when I think wrong. Now all I need to do is be quick to change the wrong thinking and the wrong speaking, instead of holding on to stinking thinking and saying whatever I want. Could you work a little harder on that in your life as well? Lord help us when we think to think about your great wisdom and plan for us.
