WHO IS YOUR LEADER
God put into effect a different plan to save us...God destroyed sin's control over us by giving us His Son as a sacrifice for our sins. (Romans 8:3 NLT)
There are some who try to say that since we have Jesus we can’t sin. They try to say it is not us doing it so it is not our fault. Any thinking person knows that neither case is true. We all know very well that we can still sin and that if we do there is no one we can really blame but ourselves.
The fact is that God did destroy the power sin holds over us, but He did not destroy our will to choose what we will do. He sent the Holy Spirit to guide us. In other words the Holy Spirit suggests what is right and we make our own choices.
Here we go again! It would have been so much easier if God did not let us choose! Some people have the idea that if God does not strike them with lightning then what they are doing must be okay. When we are open and sensitive to the Holy Spirit’s leading, even the smallest check is almost like a close lightning strike. If God forced us, then we would be like forced slaves, but we are not slaves, we are friends. Friends have choices don’t they? Friends can be true friends all the time, or they can be seasonal friends. Jesus is a true friend all the time.
So whom do we follow? I read recently about being in God’s perfect will, His permissive will, or completely out of His will. The only place that keeps us in position to receive the very best of God’s plans for us is in His perfect will. But no one is perfect right? Wrong! The Holy Spirit is perfect and He will guide us into all truth.
In other words, if we will follow Him, He will keep us in position for the very best from God. If we are following His guidance then we can be sure that everything will be all right. We can expect to be healed. We can expect to be protected. We can expect provision and all the other great promises of God.
On the other hand if we are out there in gray areas it is sort of like standing just outside the door in a rainstorm. We may not get as wet, but it is not as good as being inside safe and warm. We do not have to stand outside the best place, but often times we just do. Usually we end up wondering why in the world we did not just do what the Spirit was saying.
God has given us all the power and authority that we need to dwell in the secret place. We need only submit ourselves totally to Him and resist the devil and the rest is written and true. Let’s all pay attention to who are following and make sure it is Jesus.
