WHOEVER BELIEVES
I can assure you that whoever believes in me will do the same things I have done. And they will do even greater things than I have done, because I am going to the Father.(John 14:12 ERV)
What is God doing in your life? What are you expecting Him to do? What do you believe He can do? God, from the beginning wanted people to talk about what He said and did and what He promised. So let’s add what do you talk about to the list?
We need to consider what we are focused on. For instance, when Israel was delivered from Egypt, they left with the wealth of Egypt. They left after having watched God do some many things and yet when they got to the Red Sea, they said nothing of the wonders and power of God. Instead they complained about what they were seeing at the moment.
Fast forward to the other side of the sea, and we find them complaining that they don’t like the food and that God has brought them out to have them die of thirst. They were so focused on what they did not have and on what they could not see God doing that they made God really mad.
I believe that God thought they should use the brains that He gave them to figure out that if God did one thing He could do another. Not only could He do another, but He would in fact do what they asked if they would only believe.
Move ahead to Jesus. He came to reveal the Kingdom of God to the world. He came so that whoever would believe would be saved. He did not walk around trying to get people saved, He walked around revealing the Kingdom of God so that people would see, believe, and as a result be saved.
This is the privilege that He has passed on to us. When we seek God, we find Him. When we call on Him we are saved. Truly this is a miracle. Now ask yourself, “What was the result of my salvation?” In other words what changed when you came to know the power of God to save? There were certainly changes in thinking, desires, and actions. Maybe they were huge; maybe they were subtle at first. Whatever they were, they started your testimony. As God told Israel; speak about these things.
The more we know, love, and trust God, the more we see what He does. Talk about these things.
Christians often get caught in the trap of seeing only what they can see and not what faith can reveal. As a result the conversation is more about what they are not seeing than what they should be believing. Jesus assured us we would do the same things He did. So we should simply believe and talk about the things He has done and promised to do. Moses told the people watch and they would behold the power of God, and God acted. So do we speak more of the promises of God or of the lack of what He has promised?
