WHY DID HE DIE
"But all this was done that the Scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled."(Matthew 26:56)
How many times in life have you heard someone say, “Why did they have to die?” Of course, no one has a good answer for that question at the time or any time, because we simply do not know all the answers. This however is not the case when it comes to the death of Jesus. He died because that was the plan all along. It really is that simple; still there is so much more that we need to learn from it.
The fact that it was spoken and written by God confirms the fact that there was and remains no limit to the extent that God will go for the sake of those He loves and who love Him. Jesus death was a very clear picture of that. Yes, if God says something that is how it will be. He keeps His Word! If ever there was a time He would have changed His mind, you would think that would have been it.
His death is just one more nail in the coffin of the devils plans. His death was the only way to destroy the power of death and provide the way of life for each and every one who would call upon the name of Jesus. It was yet another earthly act that would bring great glory to the Father and to Jesus.
I know it is hard to imagine that such a horrid act could be used to depict such deep love, but that is exactly what Jesus was doing. His love for God and for us was great enough to overcome His desire to preserve His own life. If we are willing to receive it, it is also a picture of life in Him. There is a great freedom in preferring God over anything else in life.
If we think that we can follow Him without some things dying in our lives, we are wrong. Old things must pass away and all things must become new. This is the only way to experience the life that Jesus desires for us. I hope you know that this is a lifelong process.
He came and showed us how to live or how we might live and then He showed us how to attain that life. For most of us, our cross will not be to hang on a physical cross, but there will be many things that we endure and many things that we will need to lay at the foot of that cross. People who think that they will access all the promises of God without renewing their minds and transforming their lives will never experience all that God has planned for us.
Jesus death was in fact a point of transition. The process suddenly accelerated, and only days later the birth of the next step in the plan would be released into the earth.
