Have you ever noticed that the more time you spend with Jesus, in His presence, seeking His wisdom and guidance, the more you respond to life the way He would? The religious leaders who were trying to stop Peter and John marveled at the boldness and the authority with which these men spoke. They were amazed that these men who had not learned from them obviously knew more than they did. Not only that, but miracles were being done as they ministered to people. It is pretty hard to argue against the miracles of God, but they tried. To this day, people try to explain away the miracles of God, but it is pretty hard to explain away the difference being with Jesus makes in people’s lives.

The people of that time marveled at what Peter and John were doing, and the only explanation they could come up with was that they had been with Jesus. The greatest miracle of all is the saving of a soul and the changing of a life. Healing, deliverance, and all the other miracles come in the package deal as we work out the fullness of our salvation.

The world does not know it, but they are looking for people who have been with Jesus. They are not looking for people who have walked with Jesus, but for people who are walking with Jesus. They have seen plenty of people who have met Him in passing but never really allowed Him to rub off on them. They have heard people who talk about Him but they can easily see that many who talk about Him really do not know Him.

People are looking for people whose lives declare that there is only one explanation for what they have. Only Jesus can so transform a life for the better that people marvel at what He has done. Only Jesus can saturate our lives with love, joy, peace, and all the other fruits of the Spirit of God. There is only one name under heaven by which men must be saved, and that name is Jesus.

I want people to marvel at what He is able to do in my life. Sadly I am concerned that I may more often display how far I have to go rather than how far I have come. I am the only one who can change that and I will by spending more time with Him. Not just when I sit alone and read my Bible and pray, but as I walk my daily life I am determined to walk with Him. I want to walk and talk with Him just as He did with our Father in heaven. I would like to always do what pleases Him.

Peter and John had been with Jesus and they continued to meet with others who had been with Jesus. They would get together and seek God and He would shake the place. May God shake the places where we gather today. May people marvel as they see what a difference being with Jesus makes in our lives as we walk with Him everyday.
