WITHOUT HIM
He created everything there is. Nothing exists that He didn't make. (John 1:3 NLT)
While driving down the road and praising God for His creation, the Holy Spirit brought to my mind this particular passage of scripture. One translation says, “And without Him was not anything made that was made.” Have you taken the time to consider that He made everything and to this day there is nothing made without what He made?
It is really pretty exciting when you actually take the time to consider this truth. There is no doubt that we have made some great technological advances, but where did with wisdom come from. Where do people get these great gifts and the ideas to put the gifts to work? If we were to really believe that things just keep evolving, then we would have to ask why cows let people heard them. Why haven’t they gotten smart enough to take over the farm? Or why in the world does an elephant let a little man with pointed stick steer him around. The reason is that God made it that way.
Now back to the fact that the Lord made everything. He was and always will be the only one that can make something out of nothing. And since He made everything, everything else has been made out of what He made. When people call something man made, they should add with God’s basic materials. We may take things that are and put them together to form something that was not before, but still if God had not made the original elements, the new thing could not be made. It really does make sense. Read it again!
If we look at things this way, we see that God is still creating. He not only makes all things new, He also makes all new things. Isn’t it amazing that God can take people who are so flawed and pour such wonderful gifts through them? What is even more amazing, is that God does these wonderful things and more often than not, people take the credit for them rather than giving the glory to God. Even then, God is patient as he waits for all people to come to the knowledge of the truth. He knows when the end will come.
Sometimes it is this fundamental truth that opens people’s eyes to the wonderful truth of the Gospel. As people stand in awe of creation and are blessed with the revelation that all of this was made according to someone’s plan and not just by random explosions, it opens their hearts to seek the one who made all things.
If we say we believe in God and yet do not accept this fact as true, then we have built our faith on a shaky foundation that will not stand against natural thinking. When you breathe, you are breathing God’s air. When you are warmed by the sun you are basking in the sun He created. Every thing you have was made from something He made.
How do those beaches hold the oceans? How is it that a mighty mountain stands? All these things make me shake my head in wonder yet they’re so small He holds them in His hands. God made it all and He alone will end it all.
