YOUR STORY
Then the two from Emmaus told their story of how Jesus had appeared to them...(Luke 24:35 NLT)
What I am about to talk about will be foolishness to some, but in truth, beneficial for all. Wow, that is a pretty bold! Anything that could possible open our eyes to the wonders of our wonderful Lord is beneficial and it is my deepest desire to know and to show Him more.
We all have a story. We are all somewhere in a walk with the Lord. Some of us know it and some of do not. Still we all have a story. The men on the road had a story. The story began with disappointment. Then a stranger walks with them for a while and tells them another story, but they were not really getting the story until their eyes were opened and they understood. They responded by running back to join the others and after they listened to the others tell their story, they told about their own story. Everyone has a story. What is yours?
I had a picture come to mind that I believe was from the Lord that illustrates how the story goes for many of us. I imagined an amusement park along the freeway. There are some who drive along on the freeway and see the amusement park from a distance but have no time for it. Others see it and do not want to have anything to do with it. Some take the exit and drive by on the frontage road, and others stop at the parking lot. Still others walk up to the gate but change their minds. Some go in but stand by the door. Others run for the fun.
What is your story? You of course see that the amusement park in the story is the kingdom of God. It is there and very available to anyone but not attractive to everyone. Things in life might move us from a distance to a closer look and even through the gate, but unless we run for the fun we will never know what it is like to be –˜in the Son.’
Yes, we all are somewhere in that picture. I lived almost half of my life on the freeway and occasionally in the parking lot it would seem. From time to time I would even step just inside the gate.
I know how is to fly by on the freeway with no real need for God. I also know what it is like to have things falling apart in life enough to cause you to turn in and have the parking lot looking in moment. I know that even stepping inside the place really does not provide the experience that is life changing.
There is no way to know how great the Kingdom of God is without fully partaking of all He promises us. The men on the road experienced a complete transformation once they partook of what Jesus shared with them. No matter where we are in the picture, it can only get better as we go deeper into the Kingdom of God. There is so much more that God will reveal to you as you consider this picture. What is your story? Are you ready for more?
